NANS Southwest Coordinator Attends UNILESA Students’ Week Grand Finale, Urges Students to Embrace Purposeful Leadership

The grand finale of the University of Ilesa (UNILESA) Students’ Week celebration came alive on June 5, 2026, as the Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, popularly known as BillionCodes, joined students and stakeholders for the highly anticipated event themed “Evening with the Vice-Chancellor.”

The event served as a platform for meaningful interaction between the university management and students, bringing together dignitaries, members of the academic community, and student leaders from across the institution.

Upon his arrival, Comrade Adeyemo and his entourage received a warm welcome from the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, and the Osun State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Sunday Eluwole. The atmosphere was further energized by enthusiastic students who gathered to receive the NANS Southwest leader.

Addressing the audience, Comrade Adeyemo commended the university management for organizing an impactful programme that continues to strengthen the relationship between students and the institution’s leadership. He emphasized that higher institutions are not merely centres for academic certification but environments where character, leadership, courage, and societal values are developed.

The NANS Coordinator also praised the Vice-Chancellor and management team for their commitment to the growth and advancement of the university. He urged students to embrace responsible citizenship, purposeful leadership, and active participation in nation-building.

Speaking on the challenges facing young people in contemporary society, particularly issues of insecurity, he encouraged students to move beyond passive observation and become active contributors to positive change within their communities and the nation at large.

Comrade Adeyemo further called on eligible students to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and remain politically conscious. According to him, students are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also key stakeholders and leaders of today whose decisions and actions will shape Nigeria’s future.

One of the major highlights of the event was the presentation of a Certificate of Recognition to the Students’ Representative leader, Comrade Akinmoladun Oluwagbopemi Israel, in appreciation of his outstanding service and contributions to the student community.

The memorable gathering concluded with renewed commitments toward student development, leadership excellence, and stronger collaboration between NANS Southwest and tertiary institutions across the region.

The Coordinator’s presence at the event further reaffirmed NANS Southwest Zone D’s dedication to promoting quality student leadership, civic engagement, and academic excellence among Nigerian students.
